What is involved?
- Plan: Champions attend first day
- Train and Apply: Two four-day sessions (Train)
with 3 weeks in between (Apply)
- Review: Project review each session
- Computer based
- Course is modular
- Stand-up exercise
- Video's used extensively
- Student evaluations each week
Who Should Attend? There are pre-requisites
for this training. You must have completed the following:
- Project Selection
- Minitab Software Training
Roles & Responsibilities of Green Belts:
Lead important process improvement projects, support strategic Black Belt projects.
- Work in own functional area
- Drive continuous process improvement
- Technical process experts
- Change agents
Creating Critical Mass with Local Focus
Major Points:
- To understand the process we need to determine the stability and variability of the process
- Stability
- Mean
- Variability
- Standard Deviation
- We want to be able to take small samples and predict the overall population - this is where statistics is beneficial
- The cost of being off target with large amounts of variability is tremendous
- We need to understand where the process is in relation to the Target and the spec limits and what amount of variability we are experiencing
- Different types of data
- Attributes (discrete)
- Variables (Continuous)
- Variables data is more powerful than attributes
- We will utilize the Mean (not Median) and standard deviation ( not range) to measure our process improvement efforts
- Concepts of shape, center, and spread of the data are important to understand
- Variances are additive, standard deviations are not
- Basic properties of the normal distribution
- Determining whether a data set is normally distributed
- Makes a difference on what statistical tools we can use
- Separation of a data set using the 'BY' statement
- Let us look at potential sources of variability
