  • Technical process experts
  • Change agents

Creating Critical Mass with Local Focus
AEC International, Inc. (AEC) is a results-driven training and consulting organization. AEC Is leading the way to operational excellence!

Major Points:

  • To understand the process we need to determine the stability and variability of the process
    • Stability
    • Mean
    • Variability
    • Standard Deviation
  • We want to be able to take small samples and predict the overall population - this is where statistics is beneficial
  • The cost of being off target with large amounts of variability is tremendous
  • We need to understand where the process is in relation to the Target and the spec limits and what amount of variability we are experiencing
  • Different types of data
    • Attributes (discrete)
    • Variables (Continuous)
  • Variables data is more powerful than attributes
  • AEC International, Inc. (AEC) is a results-driven training and consulting organization. AEC Is leading the way to operational excellence!
  • We will utilize the Mean (not Median) and standard deviation ( not range) to measure our process improvement efforts
  • Concepts of shape, center, and spread of the data are important to understand
  • Variances are additive, standard deviations are not
  • Basic properties of the normal distribution
  • Determining whether a data set is normally distributed
    • Makes a difference on what statistical tools we can use
  • Separation of a data set using the 'BY' statement
    • Let us look at potential sources of variability
