APQP/FMEA/PPAP

These programs are elements of QS-9000 Quality System and mandated by the Big 3; Chrysler, GM, and Ford. The training is held on-site and tailored to the needs of the manufacturers.

APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) - is designed to produce a product quality plan that will support the development of a product or service to satisfy the customer. The goal is to facilitate communication with all involved to assure that all required steps are completed on time. The benefits of APQP are:

  • To direct resources to satisfy the customer.
  • To promote early identification of required changes.
  • To avoid late changes.
  • To provide a quality product on time at the lowest cost.

FMEA (Failure Mode Effect Analysis) - FMEA supports the process of identifying and reducing the risk of failures. It is a systemized group of activities intended to:

  • Recognize and evaluate the potential failure of a product/process and its effects.
  • Identify actions, which could eliminate or reduce the chance of the potential failure occurring.
  • Document the process. This process is complementary and defines the controls necessary to satisfy the customers requirements.

PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) - is to determine if all customer engineering design record and specification requirements are properly understood by the supplier and that the process has the potential to produce product meeting these requirements during an actual production run at the quoted production rate.
